FLASHBACK
BURT PETERSON:
MR. LEATHER DETROIT
On Saturday, February 13th, the R & R Saloon and cosponsor the Renaissance Men were host to the First Annual Mr. Leather Detroit Contest. Burt Peterson, a native of Birmingham, Michigan, won out over a large field of twelve contestants in a packed bar of over 400 men. The first runner up in this year's competition was Tommy from the Interchange and the second runner up was John Gary of Detroit. This year's winner was judged soley on how he presented himself and the masculine male image he projected while dressed in leather. Burt Peterson will represent The R & R Saloon and Detroit as "Mr. Leather Detroit" at the Fourth International Mr. Leather Contest to be held in Chicago, May 7th through the 9th.
International Mr. Leather 1982 will receive over $5000 in prizes including a new motorcycle. The 1981 contest broke all records for the number of contestants and crowd attendance. Competing for the top honors were men representing levi/leather businesses and organizations from all over the world.
On Sunday, March 14th, the Outlaw will host the "Mr. Michigan Leather Contest" and on Friday, host the "Mr. Interchange Contest." The winners of these contests will be joining Burt Peterson at the International Contest in Chicago.
Metra Magazine wishes the best of luck to Burt Peterson and we hope to see a lot of Detroiters in Chicago. If you're interested in going down there and rather not drive, the R & R will be chartering a bus to take you there and back. For more information on the bus trip and the video taped performance of the recent Detroit contest, call John at 849-2751.
